The Association of Black Women Physicians (ABWP) is hosting our 43rd Annual Charity & Scholarship Benefit Luncheon on Sunday, October 27th, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Four Seasons Los Angeles at Beverly Hills.
This year's theme, "Celebrating the Triumph of Courageous Women," focuses on the remarkable resilience of survivors of intimate partner violence. The event aims to raise awareness of this critical public health issue and support future Black women in medicine.

LOS ANGELES, Calif., Sept. 5, 2024 / ABWP / -- The Association of Black Women Physicians (ABWP), a non-profit dedicated to empowering Black women in medicine, is hosting its 43rd Annual Charity & Scholarship Benefit Luncheon on Sunday, October 27th, 2024 from 11 AM to 2 PM at The Four Seasons Los Angeles at Beverly Hills. This year’s theme, "Celebrating the Triumph of Courageous Women," focuses on those who have overcome intimate partner violence with remarkable resilience. Intimate partner violence is not only a personal tragedy but also a public health crisis that affects individuals across all socioeconomic levels. As physicians, we are committed to empowering victims, helping them build resilience, and working to eliminate this pervasive issue. Actress, Comedian and Author, Kim Coles will serve as the event’s mistress of ceremony at the benefit luncheon, which offers a chance to network and celebrate diversity in medicine and will feature special honorees, entertainment, industry influencers, distinguished special guest donors and sponsors.
Who: The Association of Black Women Physicians (ABWP) is a non-profit organization established in 1982 that is committed to community health literacy and public health advocacy. ABWP provides an ongoing forum to support the success of African-American women in medicine, science, and public health.
What: The 43rd Annual Charity & Scholarship Benefit Luncheon is a fundraising event to support the Rebecca Lee Crumpler, MD Scholarships awarded to local deserving female medical students. For over four decades, the ABWP has championed the cause of Black women in medicine, supporting physicians, trainees, and medical/undergraduate students through initiatives like our Scholarship Gala. Thanks to the generous support of sponsors and community partners, ABWP has awarded over a million dollars in scholarships, including the esteemed Rebecca Lee Crumpler, MD Scholarship.

Why: The Association of Black Women Physicians is committed to increasing diversity in the medical profession by supporting the pipeline of future Black women physicians.
More: The event will feature a Lifetime achievement award to Dr. Daphne Calmes, Associate Dean School of Medicine at Charles Drew University, a Humanitarian Award to Dr. Joy Simmons, CAAM's Board of Directors Radiologist at Kaiser Permanente (Retired), and a Special Visionary Award to Dr. Uche Blackstock, Founder and CEO of Advancing Health Equity. The mistress of ceremony will be Actress, Comedian and Author, Kim Coles. The talent for the benefit luncheon will include JB Jazz, Saxophonists, and Jeannette Bayardelle, Tony Nominated Actress. Your participation not only honors the spirit of perseverance but also directly impacts future generations of Black women in medicine, empowering them to achieve their dreams despite challenges they may face.
